St. Johns County News

1. A burn ban is in effect from April 20-27th.

2. Sea turtle nesting season begins May 1, and St. Johns County officials are asking residents, visitors, and businesses to help protect natural habitat by observing all nesting season laws and regulations. The beaches of St. Johns County are home to several species of endangered or threatened sea turtles.

Beach visitors can have a positive impact on nesting sea turtles by taking the following actions while enjoying the beach:

  • Use designated walkovers. Please stay off dunes and vegetation.
  • Avoid entering sand dunes and conservation zones (15 feet seaward of the dune line).
  • Remove ruts and sandcastles at the end of your beach day.
  • Do not leave beach chairs or canopies on the beach overnight.
  • Refrain from using fireworks and open fires.
  • Flashlights are strongly discouraged as they can harm sea turtles.
  • Refrain from releasing balloons, as they can fall into the ocean and harm marine life.
  • Reduce litter and marine debris – dispose of trash properly. Pick up any fishing line and plastic that you see and participate in beach clean-ups.
  • Never approach sea turtles emerging from or returning to the sea. Nesting females are vulnerable and timid and can be easily frightened away.
St. Johns County Sheriff News

Unsafe e-bike activity continues to be a concern for residents in our community.

The Sheriff's Office addressed this topic at the April 13th PV Municipal Service District meeting and highlighted the many educational outreach activities that it has conducted and participated in to increase awareness and improve safety.

If you have concerns or observe unsafe activity, call the Sheriff's Office non-emergency number (904) 824-8304.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS

The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library will temporarily restrict access to its Children’s Area for renovation preparations starting March 16. While the branch remains open to the public, materials and resources in the Children’s Area may be impacted throughout the rest of the week. The renovation project is anticipated to begin in early April

To ensure that services for young readers continue during the upcoming renovation, the Children’s Area will be temporarily moved to the Friends of the Library Community Room. Library staff will provide a limited selection of children’s books so families can continue to enjoy library materials while the Children’s Area relocates.

The renovation of the Children’s Area is funded by generous community donations and fundraising activities organized by the Ponte Vedra Beach Friends of the Library.

Learn about Viking History at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library

Caleb Connell returns to share his expertise on the Norse world. In 793, Vikings raided the monastery at Lindisfarne. They were explorers who made it to America centuries before Columbus. They were the successors of the Praetorian guard in the Eastern Roman Empire. They were kings who created new countries. They were conquerors who forged empires. Some of them even became saints. They were Leif Erikson, Ivar the Boneless, Cnut the Great, Erik Bloodaxe, Harald Bluetooth, and Saint Olaf. The Difference Between PVCA & MSD

We have received many emails from PVCA members recently asking for help with code enforcement which is not within PVCA's purview.

PVCA is primarily a social organization that builds community, welcomes new neighbors, and increases fellowship through the following annual events: the Tree Lighting in December and the Sweetheart Dance in February.

Ponte Vedra MSD is a Municipal Service District and provides supplemental services to the county in a variety of areas including emergency services, parking, traffic control, trash collection, beautification, cable, fire protection, utilities, recreational facilities, and law enforcement. Individual trustees & contact information are listed at the end of this newsletter. MSD's website is here. MSD's 2025 newsletter is here.
