St. Johns County News

1. St. Johns County Administrator Joy Andrews addressed our community in a letter. To read it in full, go here

2. One of the several items of interest in that community letter is that the County has expanded live-streaming of County Commissioners Meetings to social media. Learn more about that here. Regular BCC meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 9 a.m., unless otherwise decided by the Board.

3. The Ponte Vedra Community Association reached out to St. Johns County and requested that the county arrange for a collection event for residential hazardous and other waste (including lithium batteries) that is not collected curbside at a site convenient to Ponte Vedra Beach residents. The county has advised that it is working on this request.

4. St. Johns County is partnering with FEMA and the State to fund a beach and dune erosion restoration project in north Ponte Vedra. The project is estimated to cost $26 million and will be funded 75% by FEMA and 12.5% each for the County and the State. It is expected to be a dredge project and that the affected area will begin at the Guana Reserve and extend 4.5 miles north to just south of Sawgrass County Club. The construction portion of the project is anticipated to begin late 2026/early 2027 and be completed by mid-2027.

5. AT&T has requested a permit to perform underground utility work on the west side of San Juan Drive from Solana Road to slightly north of Christ Church. This is part of AT&T’s larger plan to install 27,000 LF of new fiber optic cable in Ponte Vedra.

6. The County has selected a new contractor to complete the Pablo Road bridge repair project and expects work to begin within 60 to 90 days.

7. The County has also selected a contractor for the Miranda Road bridge repair project and expects work to start during late March.

8. St. Johns County has issued guidance on traffic signal optimization and navigating intersections as part of its ongoing effort to keep the County’s transportation network operating effectively. Read more here.

LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENT:

The Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library will temporarily restrict access to its Children’s Area for renovation preparations starting March 16. While the branch remains open to the public, materials and resources in the Children’s Area may be impacted throughout the rest of the week. The renovation project is anticipated to begin in early April

To ensure that services for young readers continue during the upcoming renovation, the Children’s Area will be temporarily moved to the Friends of the Library Community Room. Library staff will provide a limited selection of children’s books so families can continue to enjoy library materials while the Children’s Area relocates.

The renovation of the Children’s Area is funded by generous community donations and fundraising activities organized by the Ponte Vedra Beach Friends of the Library.

The Difference Between PVCA & MSD

We have received many emails from PVCA members recently asking for help with code enforcement which is not within PVCA's purview.

PVCA is primarily a social organization that builds membership, welcomes new neighbors, and increases community fellowship through the following annual events: the Tree Lighting in December and the Sweetheart Dance in February.

Ponte Vedra MSD is a Municipal Service District and provides supplemental services to the county in a variety of areas including emergency services, parking, traffic control, trash collection, beautification, cable, fire protection, utilities, recreational facilities, and law enforcement. Individual trustees & contact information are listed at the end of this newsletter. MSD's website is here. MSD's 2025 newsletter is here.
