FEBRUARY 2026 NEWSLETTER
Do you know someone who is doing great things in our community?

Who is doing great things & making a real difference in our community? We want to know!

Young people, seniors and in between. Please email PVCA President Lori here & include that person's name, address & how they contribute to bettering our community.

Kahlan Crowley

Meet Kahlan Crowley, a middle school student at Bolles who embodies excellence, compassion, and boundless curiosity. At just 13 years old, Kahlan stands out in her eighth-grade class at the Bolles Middle School not only for her academic achievements, but for her genuine love of learning. She is proud to be part of the Speech & Debate team this year and has been honored to be the recipient of the prestigious Presidents Award two years in a row. Beyond the classroom, Kahlan enjoys tennis, working out and is an amazing young chef. She recently joined the school tennis team and finds that tennis isn't just a sport for her—it's also a way to build resilience, stay active, and form lasting friendships. What truly sets Kahlan apart, however, is her initiative in launching E.K.O. with two of her friends in 2023. After rallying some friends in fifth grade to run a successful clothing drive for HUGS, she and two of her friends were inspired to create a philanthropic club dedicated to fundraising, raising awareness and service.

The club known as E.K.O. is a fun acronym, which stands for “Emma, Kahlan, Olivia, but is more formally known as “Embrace, Kindness Objective”.  Under joint leadership, the club has organized bake sales, clothing drives, and fundraisers, raising over $7500 for Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, St. Jude’s, the Jax Humane Society and most recently Wounded Warriors. Kahlan’s entrepreneurial spirit shines through in everything she does from her early days with a small home baking business to her efforts today.  Her curiosity extends far beyond her hometown; she loves learning about different cultures, traveling, taking cooking classes abroad and exploring. Creative and endlessly compassionate, Kahlan is always looking for the next opportunity to do good. As she looks ahead to high school and beyond, one thing is clear: Kahlan is just getting started on her journey of making a difference.

MSD News

The next MSD meeting is Monday, March 9th at 5:30 pm at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 545 A1A N, The Browning Center Room 3, Ponte Vedra Beach.

The public is encouraged to attend the MSD Board meeting and to express their opinions. Minutes from the January 12th meeting (most recent available) are here.

 1. Many of the lagoons throughout the MSD are experiencing midge fly swarms, and a representative from Florida Waterways shed some light on why this is happening: some lagoons are at least 50 years old and have a buildup of nutrients in them as a result of runoff from treated lawns. Midges thrive in the nutrient buildup. Management strategies include a pesticide called BTI and lower intensity lighting around the outside of homes (midges are attracted to high intensity lights).

2. The 16th Annual Big Bang 5K will take place on June 27th at 9am at Christ Episcopal Church on San Juan Drive.

3. The pedestrian bridge at the south end of The Pointe (located on San Juan Drive) will be a topic of discussion at the next MSD meeting. The bridge has existed since the 1940s and in 2016 was severely damaged by a hurricane. Since The Pointe has full ownership of the bridge, it is the responsibility of the residents to maintain it. The Pointe's HOA president asked the MSD board if they would consider contributing to the rebuild project.

4. Four seats are open on the MSD. If you are interested, you will need to contact Supervisor of Elections Vicky Oakes' Office here, submit qualifying information, and pay a $25 fee by the dates set forth in this attachment.

The Difference Between PVCA & MSD

We have received many emails from PVCA members recently asking for help with code enforcement which is not within PVCA's purview.

PVCA is primarily a social organization that builds membership, welcomes new neighbors, and increases community fellowship through the following annual events: the Tree Lighting in December and the Sweetheart Dance in February.

Ponte Vedra MSD is a Municipal Service District and provides supplemental services to the county in a variety of areas including emergency services, parking, traffic control, trash collection, beautification, cable, fire protection, utilities, recreational facilities, and law enforcement. Individual trustees & contact information are listed at the end of this newsletter. MSD's website is here. MSD's 2025 newsletter is here.
