Ponte Vedra Community Association Back-to-School Membership Drive & Renewal

Dear Neighbors,

As the kids head back to school and summer winds down, it’s the perfect time to reconnect with our community. We all have busy and hectic lives, but our neighborhood remains a place where we can come together, support one another, and celebrate what truly matters: family, friendship, safety, and belonging.

Welcoming new neighbors into our streets and driveways is one of the best ways to strengthen that sense of connection, reminding us that Old Ponte Vedra Beach is more than just houses—it’s a family of friends. Let’s take the time to greet each other with a smile, reconnect with old neighbors, introduce ourselves to those who’ve recently moved in, and make them feel welcome—keeping our community spirit alive and thriving.

We are excited to share that 2026 will mark the 80th birthday of the Ponte Vedra Community Association! Since our founding in 1946 with just 44 families, we’ve grown into a vibrant neighborhood bound together by traditions, shared experiences, and a love for our beachside community. We have big plans for this milestone year, with special events, commemorative keepsakes, and opportunities to celebrate together. Our Annual Board Meeting in May 2026 will also serve as our official 80th Birthday Celebration—a perfect chance to reflect on our history and look ahead to our future.

But the foundation of our success—and the heart of our celebrations—comes from you, our members. That’s why we’re kicking off our 2025–2026 Membership Drive right now. By renewing or joining today, you’ll ensure you don’t miss a moment of what’s ahead, including:

• Three signature social events each year at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, including our Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa & Mrs. Claus, Sweetheart Dinner & Dance, and Annual Board Meeting / 80th Birthday Celebration.

• Access to our members-only website with event information, neighborhood updates, public safety contacts, and our digital membership directory.

• Our monthly e-newsletter with timely updates on local, county, and state matters.

• A unified voice on issues affecting our neighborhood.

• The warm welcome and ongoing connection offered by our Membership Committee and Block Captains.

We are also looking for Block Captains—friendly, welcoming neighbors who can help greet new residents and ensure they feel at home right away. If you’re interested in becoming a Block Captain, please reach out to us!

Membership is just $125 per year, and joining is simple:

1. Visit www.pontevedraca.org

2. Log in (or create an account if you’re new)

3. Click Renew Membership or Join Now and follow the prompts; be sure to scroll both up & down on your screen to make sure you don't miss any of the prompts.

The PVCA is about more than events and updates—it’s about preserving the charm, traditions, and quality of life that make Old Ponte Vedra Beach so special. As we approach our 80th year, let’s recommit to keeping our neighborhood strong, welcoming, and connected.

We look forward to celebrating with you this year and for many more to come.

Warm regards,

Lori Wells

President, Ponte Vedra Community Association

The next MSD meeting is Monday, September 8th at 5:30 pm at the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch of the St Johns County Library in the FOL Room. The library is located at 101 Library Blvd.

The public is encouraged to attend the MSD Board meeting and to express their opinions. Minutes from the June 9th meeting (most recent minutes that are available) are here.

Notes from the August 11th MSD meeting:

1. Street light maintenance will begin in September, and all street lights will receive new LED fixtures.  Beaches Energy expects the project to take the entire month of September.

2. On September 6th at 9:30am, the Ponte Vedra Beach Branch Library will raise a new flag and retire the old flag with the help of the local Boy Scouts troop.

3. The MSD Board voted to hire an engineering firm to design, engineer and permit phase 1A of the sidewalk project on San Juan Drive running from Solana Road to the Pablo Road south entrance.

St. Johns County News

Notes from the August 5th St. Johns County Board of Commissioners meeting:

1. A1A medians have been cleared for planting of flowering peanut grass ground cover.

2. Portions of the Tree Ordinance passed which expand the protection of specimen trees and increase tree cutting fines from $25 to $100 per inch for protected trees cut by developers. The clear cutting change to preserve 10% of trees in PUD developments from the existing 5% of trees did not pass by a 3 to 2 vote of the county commissioners.

On August 12, 2025, County Administrator Joy Andrews sent a Community Letter to residents of St. Johns County updating residents on the status of the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget and how the County is investing in the future. Some of these investments include regional parks, libraries, fire stations, and critical infrastructure. The final budget will be brought to the Board of County Commissioners for adoption in September and residents will be kept informed every step of the way. You can read the letter here.

On July 30, 2025, St. Johns County celebrated the grand reopening of the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. To read more about that celebration and more information about the concert hall, go here

On Aug. 5, the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners passed a resolution promoting safety for operators of e-bikes, e-scooters and other electronic motorized devices.

The county, St. Johns Sheriff's Office and St. Johns County School District have formed an alliance to partner on public education and enforcement efforts with the community.

According to the resolution, the use of e-bikes, electric scooters and other electric motorized devices has significantly increased across St. Johns County. These vehicles present safety challenges due to increased traffic interactions, varied rider experience levels and the mixed-use nature of sidewalks and roadway.

The resolution states that, if operating on a pedestrian path, operators should limit their speed to 10 miles per hour or less. Operators should also wear a helmet.

It is worth noting that the county commissioners passed this resolution, but it is not an ordinance. Additionally, St. Johns County Sheriff's Office is increasing its enforcement of e-bikes and motor scooters.

The Difference Between PVCA & MSD

We have received many emails from PVCA members recently asking for help with code enforcement which is not within PVCA's purview.

PVCA is primarily a social organization that builds membership, welcomes new neighbors, and increases community fellowship through the following annual events: the Tree Lighting in December and the Sweetheart Dance in February.

Ponte Vedra MSD is a Municipal Service District and deals with safety issues, hurricane preparedness & evacuations; code enforcement & traffic; yard waste & recycling. Individual trustees & contact information are listed at the end of this newsletter. MSD's website is here. MSD's 2025 newsletter is here.
